About ME

Photography is part of my identity and has been since I first picked up a camera many years ago. Photography is the oxygen that allows my creativity to breathe. Photography allows me to capture the rhythms of life and share a few special moments with others. Photography is at the intersection of the ephemeral and the timeless.

My subjects are eclectic, ranging from landscape to city-scape to action to whimsy. In recent years I’ve gravitated to the street. I’ve traveled widely and this has helped me refine my technique. Throughout my journeys my camera has been a faithful companion, often serving as a bridge to form new friendships and explore new perspectives.

In 2020 I completed the UCLAx Certificate in Photography program. The courses and instructors were uniformly excellent—I recommend the program for any photographer, whether beginner, enthusiast or professional.

I've developed a personal set of photographic values which I use as guideposts in my work: Stay Real, Stay Respectful, Stay Ready and Stay Refreshing. A sense of authenticity is important to me, so I generally avoid artifice and stagecraft. I respect personal limits, so I neither invade nor plunder the personal space of others. I'm often on the go, so I'm always prepared to capture any moment, in the moment. Above all, I actively seek interesting and refreshing ways to look at people, places and things.

This website is designed as a virtual gallery, allowing me to share what I have seen and captured over several decades of active photography. I’d love to hear your feedback on this website and my work—please fill out the form below or send an email to cr@studiorex.net .
